DRONE MECHANICS

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles of drone mechanics, design, and maintenance. It explores how unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operate—from aerodynamics and propulsion systems to electronics, sensors, and flight control. Students will gain hands-on experience assembling, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining various types of drones used in industries such as agriculture, surveying, cinematography, and public safety.

Topics include drone anatomy, power systems, flight dynamics, communication protocols, and troubleshooting techniques. Students will also learn FAA regulations, safety standards, and best practices for drone operation and maintenance.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and explain the components and functions of UAV systems

  • Diagnose and repair common mechanical and electronic issues

  • Perform regular maintenance and system calibration

  • Apply safety and compliance procedures for professional drone use
